# Step 04 | Use Imported Printed Fabric Swatches

## <mark style="color:$primary;">How to Use Imported Fabric Swatches in Quilts</mark>

Once you’ve uploaded your digital fabric swatch(es) into PreQuilt, you can use them in a variety of ways to visualize how they’d look in your quilt.&#x20;

In this section, we’ll go through how to use digital fabric swatches in fabric links. But there are loads of other use cases (see cards at the bottom for more use cases).

## <mark style="color:blue;">01 | Use as a Fabric Link</mark>

One of the ways to use a digital fabric swatch globally in your quilt is to use it as a **Fabric Link** (*formerly called Color Tag*).&#x20;

#### <mark style="color:$primary;">What is a Fabric Link?</mark>

A **Fabric Link** is used to connect a particular fabric swatch to a particular piece(s) of a quilt. So when a Fabric Link is updated to use a different fabric swatch, everything that is using that Fabric Link will also change and be updated automatically.

#### <mark style="color:$primary;">How to Use an Imported Fabric as a</mark> <mark style="color:$primary;"></mark><mark style="color:$primary;">**Fabric Link**</mark><mark style="color:$primary;">:</mark>

1. From the Quilt Dashboard, <mark style="color:blue;">**OPEN**</mark> the quilt you are working on.

2. Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**FABRIC LINK tab**</mark> on the left side control panel. The tab will expand and show you the fabric links that are being used in this quilt.

3. Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**Edit Fabric Link**</mark> button for the Fabric Link you’d like change to your desired fabric swatch.&#x20;

4. A panel will slide out from the left side with 3 different tabs: Solids, Fabric Collections, and My Stash.&#x20;

5. To use your imported fabric, click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**My Stash tab**</mark>.&#x20;

6. This tab will show you all the digital fabric swatches you have uploaded to your PreQuilt account.

7. <mark style="color:$primary;">**Click on the digital fabric swatch**</mark> you’d like to link to your Fabric Link.

8. All quilt components and pieces that use **Fabric Link A** are now updated and using the Chubby Cheeks fabric swatch.
