# On Point Sashing (a Hack)

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Alert:** This is an imperfect hack. The sashing will always be bottom heavy and not be applied the same way along the top of the quilt as it is along the bottom.
{% endhint %}

## <mark style="color:blue;">On Point Sashing Hack</mark>

Currently, the on point grid cannot have different sized columns and rows (as you can on the rectangular grid). We hope to have this fixed soon, but for now we can offer a hack.

Essentially the hack is to add a border along the bottom edges of the on point quilt block.

### <mark style="color:blue;">a | On Point Sashing without Cornerstones (Hack)</mark>

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** You'll need to add this hacked sashing to all blocks in the quilt. This example uses only the same block over and over. But if you have multiple different blocks, you'll need to repeat this process to all of the blocks being used.
{% endhint %}

This Help Guide assumes that you have already created your on point quilt and want to add sashing after having added your blocks to the quilt grid.

1. Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**Edit Block button**</mark> for the block you want to add sashing to.&#x20;

   <div align="left"><figure><img src="https://667278489-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FPUFswdysHBJDPIJC9xe0%2Fuploads%2FQez2KuRyVuYiYBjOBotX%2FScreenshot%202025-09-24%20at%204.35.54%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=d3445d46-8cb5-4a8a-8283-3f7e52bcb297" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
2. On the left side control panel, increase the block size to add the desired width of sashing. <mark style="color:blue;">**Enter the new width and height**</mark> of the finished block dimensions. Then click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**OK button**</mark>.

   * In this example, my block is 10" finished and I want to add 2" sashing. So, I will <mark style="color:blue;">**enter 12**</mark> for both the height and width of the block.

   <div align="left"><figure><img src="https://667278489-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FPUFswdysHBJDPIJC9xe0%2Fuploads%2F3LJxbgQjQWMGomEYoA63%2FScreenshot%202025-09-24%20at%204.40.50%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=f71f3fbe-3b08-4aa4-bd44-34204c11ddf6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
3. The block will get bigger and sometimes the block will resize (sorry). So we're first going to resize the original block pieces so that they are back to the 10" block size as they were originally. To do this:

   1. <mark style="color:blue;">**Change the grid lines**</mark> to be the same as the dimensions of the quilt block. In this example, <mark style="color:blue;">**12**</mark>. This will help the block pieces to snap to the correct position.

      <div align="left"><figure><img src="https://667278489-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FPUFswdysHBJDPIJC9xe0%2Fuploads%2Fdg70gLALqEZYWk659cOK%2FScreenshot%202025-09-24%20at%204.45.44%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=4096eabe-f592-4825-9127-c3955f6a1174" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### <mark style="color:blue;">b | FIX - Rotate Blocks</mark>

If after completing Step 12 and you see double sashing on your blocks (usually along the quilt edges in the half blocks or quarter blocks), here's how you fix that.

<div align="center"><figure><img src="https://667278489-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FPUFswdysHBJDPIJC9xe0%2Fuploads%2F9Zq2EnzQqPwOogozpWBJ%2FScreenshot%202025-09-24%20at%205.03.39%E2%80%AFPM.png?alt=media&#x26;token=c783fa0b-2500-48b9-a187-4e08b32a1d5b" alt="" width="375"><figcaption><p>Double sashing along bottom and right sides of quilt.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

1. Click on (to select) <mark style="color:blue;">**all the blocks that have the double sashing**</mark>.
