# Print Blocks 1:1

{% hint style="warning" %}
**ALERT:** Always print at 100%. Remember that printing is constrained to the size of your printer's paper. If you have blocks that are larger than regular standard printer paper, save the block as a PDF and print at your local print shop.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
**FPP BLOCKS:** Make sure to click on the **MIRROR** button to flip an asymmetrical block when using print out for foundation paper piecing.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**IDEA**: If your block is too complex to FPP all at once, consider breaking it down into its block units on another quilt. Then print those out.
{% endhint %}

## <mark style="color:blue;">Print a Block Feature</mark>

This feature is a great when you want to isolate a block and print it out.&#x20;

It's also particularly good for using as foundation paper piecing (FPP) templates for simple quilt blocks. Please note that this feature will not work for all blocks you want to FPP, because some blocks are complex and cannot be FPPed all in one go.

If your block is too complex to FPP all at once, consider breaking it down into its block units on another quilt. Then print those out.

## <mark style="color:blue;">Print 1:1 Options</mark>

In addition to just printing a single block, you can also control:

* Quantity of blocks
* Seam allowance
* Mirror the block (for FPP templates)

You can make any or all of these changes before printing your quilt blocks.

### <mark style="color:blue;">Print Quantity</mark>

{% hint style="warning" %}
**NOTE:** If you request a quantity that is more than what can print on a single page, the program will for now ignore that request and show you the maximum number of templates that will print on that page.
{% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %} <mark style="color:blue;">**Input the total number**</mark> of templates that you would like.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/wJFTe6GFR8filzSgbzCk" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**Print (dimensions x dimensions) button**</mark> to print one copy of the quilt block.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/5EuTlquMNxN32Bc2GAwn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
A printer control panel will open. Make sure that the scale is at 100%. Then click <mark style="color:blue;">**Print**</mark>.

* You will note that there are now 4 copies of the block template on one page.

<figure><img src="/files/YPQ4McFohnb4T5WcvsbX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### <mark style="color:blue;">Change Seam Allowance</mark>

The default seam allowance is 0.25".

{% stepper %}
{% step %} <mark style="color:blue;">**Input the desired seam allowance**</mark> for your quilt block. If you would not wish any seam allowance to appear, enter <mark style="color:blue;">**0**</mark>.

* In this example, I've changed the seam allowance to half an inch.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/p76sg8m9q5tjoRSSpV4f" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**Print (dimensions x dimensions) button**</mark> to print one copy of the quilt block.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/5EuTlquMNxN32Bc2GAwn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
A printer control panel will open. Make sure that the scale is at 100%. Then click <mark style="color:blue;">**Print**</mark>.

* You will note that the seam allowance is now 0.5" around the block.

<figure><img src="/files/wAJxuwlSwPzqzSRFzR0u" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### <mark style="color:blue;">Mirror an FPP Template</mark>

{% hint style="danger" %}
**FPP BLOCKS:** Make sure to click on the **MIRROR** button to flip an asymmetrical block when using print out for foundation paper piecing.
{% endhint %}

The default is to print the block 1:1 as it appears. If your block is symmetrical, it won't matter.

But if you'd like to use the block printout as a template for foundation paper piecing, you will need to **mirror** it. This is important to remember, since you'll be sewing on the wrong side of the printout.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Click on the <mark style="color:$primary;">**checkbox next to Mirror.**</mark>

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/TlcgVVY9KapwtP1fZQqe" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**Print (dimensions x dimensions) button**</mark> to print one copy of the quilt block.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/5EuTlquMNxN32Bc2GAwn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
A printer control panel will open. Make sure that the scale is at 100%. Then click <mark style="color:blue;">**Print**</mark>.

* You will note that block template has been mirrored. It's ready for FPPing!

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
