# 06 Adding Sashing Our Ribbon Star quilt progress: * [x] Select your quilt grid * [x] Import or design your quilt block * [x] Choose your quilt fabric colors * [x] Add blocks to quilt grid * [x] Finessing your quilt *(optional)* * [ ] Add sashing *(optional)* * [ ] Add borders *(optional)* * [ ] Add binding * [ ] Using printed fabric swatches *(optional)* * [ ] Download quilt map, blocks & swatches Once you've loaded your blocks, you might want to add some sashing between your blocks. It's quick and easy to do in PreQuilt! To add sashing inbetween each block, we will need to insert rows and columns between each row and column of cell blocks. Below there are directions on how to add sashing with and without cornerstones. ## 01 Sashing with Cornerstones 1. To select all the blocks in the first column of the quilt, click on the number 1 at the top of the column. Select all the cell blocks in Column 2 by clicking on the number **2** at the top of the column. 5. Repeat ***Steps 01:1-4*** for all remaining sashing for both the columns and rows (as desired). * In this example, sashing was added between all blocks.
6. Now we can fill in the sashing and cornerstones with the fabric of our choice. In this example, I'm going to use existing Color Tags, but new Color Tags can also be created. 7. Click on all the **sashing rows/columns** between blocks. Once they are selected, they will be outlined in blue.
8. Click on the **1 PATCH BLOCKS** tab(nested inside the **BLOCKS** tab). It will expand.
9. Click on the '**Add To Quilt**' button next to Color Tag A (I want to use the background fabric for my sashing).
10. Now all the sashing is the same color as the background fabric.
11. To add Color Tag C to the cornerstones, click on the **cell blocks for all the cornerstones** and **add** the Color Tag C 1 Patch Blocks to them (***Steps 01:7-9***).

## 02 Sashing without Cornerstones 1. To select all the blocks in the first column of the quilt, click on the number **1** at the top of the column. 5. Repeat ***Steps 02:1-4*** for all remaining sashing for both the columns and rows (as desired). * In this sashing was added between all blocks.
6. To remove the cornerstones, select all the cell blocks in Row 2 by clicking on the number **2** to the left of the row.
7. Click on the **Merge** button ()on the central Toolbar.
8. Now we have one complete row of sashing.
9. Repeat ***Steps 02:7-8*** for to create the remaining rows of sashing.
10. Now we can fill in the sashing with the fabric of our choice. In this example, I'm going to use an existing Color Tag, but new Color Tags can also be created. 11. Click on all the **sashing** between blocks. Once they are selected, they will be outlined in blue.
12. Click on the **1 PATCH BLOCKS** tab (nested inside the **BLOCKS** tab). It will expand.
