08 Adding Binding

// First PreQuilt Quilt //

Our Ribbon Star quilt progress:

Now that we have the quilt top and any additional borders we might want, the final step is adding binding.

01 Adding Solid Binding

  1. Click on the BINDING/BORDER tab on the left side control panel.

  2. Select your desired binding width by pressing the + button.

  3. Using the dropdown menu, select your binding fabric Color Tag. In this example, I used Fabric A.

  4. Now your quilt has binding!

02 Printed Fabric Binding

PREP AHEAD: If you'd like to use printed fabric in PreQuilt, you will either need to take a picture of your fabric (and save it on your computer) or download an image of the fabric from the internet (and save it on your computer).

a | Import Fabric Swatch

If you'd like to use a printed fabric for the binding, that's a great option as well - and PreQuilt can help find the perfect printed binding.

  1. Click on the COLOR TAGS tab on the left side control panel.

  2. Click on the 'Create Color Tag' button.

  3. A new Color Tag E will be created with a default color of Kona Baby Pink. Click on the 'Edit' button next to Color Tag E.

  4. The solid fabric library control panel will slide out. Click on the PRINTS tab.

  5. Click on the 'Import/Manage Prints' button.

  6. A pop-up window will open. Click on the 'Bulk Upload' button.

  7. Your computer's file system will pop-up. Click on the fabric swatch you want to import and then click 'Open'.

  8. Your fabric swatch is now loaded. If you'd like, you can click on the 'Edit' button to rename your fabric swatch.

  9. Click 'Save' once you've renamed your fabric swatch. You will now see the new name.

  10. Click on the 'Select' button for our printed fabric swatch.

    • Now this fabric is linked to Color Tag E.

  11. If you'd like, you can scale the fabric swatch at this time. Since this fabric swatch looks smaller than in real life, I'm going to make it a little bigger - to 400.

    • Note: Right now, this is all an eyeball estimate.

  12. You will now see that Color Tag E is now linked to our fabric swatch.

b | Using Printed Binding

Now that we have our fabric swatch imported into PreQuilt and assigned to Color Tag E, we can now use it as our binding fabric.

  1. Click on the BINDING/BORDER tab on the left side control panel.

  2. Select your desired binding width by pressing the + button. In this example, I'm using a thicker half inch binding.

  3. Using the dropdown menu, select your binding fabric. We can select Fabric E - which is our fabric swatch.

  4. Now your quilt has binding!
